Seeking Study Participants

I am a researcher and current Designated School Official (DSO) seeking study participants who are or have been DSOs. As part of a larger project on surveillance in international education, this study aims to learn more about the work that DSOs undertake to support international students while meeting the regulatory reporting requirements of the federal government.

To be eligible to participate in this study, you must be a current or former DSO at an SEVP-approved institution in the United States. To participate, you are asked to complete a short (approximately 15-20 minute) online Qualtrics survey to provide information about your experiences as a DSO. The survey will cover topics such as supporting international students, reporting student information in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), developing institutional policy in relation to SEVIS requirements, and more.

Standard precautions will be taken to preserve the anonymity of all study participants and no personally identifiable information is collected from participants.

To complete the survey, click the button below. Please send any questions to Dr. Crumley-Effinger (max_crumleyeffinger@emerson.edu); sending questions or a request for more information does not obligate you to participate in the study.

Thank you for your consideration,

Max Crumley-Effinger, PhD
